American Idol Expose

Reuters | Latest Financial News / Full News Coverage: "LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Fox TV hit 'American Idol' will go under the microscope of a rival network this week as ABC News examines what it calls 'explosive claims' about the most watched show on U.S. television.
ABC has declined to specify the nature of the 'startling' off-camera activities it promises to expose in Wednesday night's special edition of 'Primetime Live,' titled 'Fallen Idol.'
Sources familiar with the program say it will focus on 'American Idol' judge Paula Abdul and onetime finalist Corey Clark, who was expelled from the show in 2003 when Fox learned of an arrest record he failed to reveal.
Clark, 24, who was charged with battery against his sister and resisting arrest, later pleaded no contest to obstructing the legal process.
Last week, the Kansas native made headlines with published reports that he has been shopping a tell-all book proposal claiming to have had a secret affair with the 42-year-old Abdul while he was an 'Idol' contestant during the show's second season.
Fox has declined to comment, but a source close to the hit talent show said producers were looking into the allegations.
Abdul's publicist issued a statement last week calling Clark 'an admitted liar and opportunist who engages in unlawful activities.' It added: 'He is communicating lies about Paula Abdul in order to generate interest in a book deal.'
People familiar with the situation also said that Abdul's lawyer, Martin Singer, has sent a letter to ABC threatening legal action if the network airs its 'Fallen Idol' special.
In addition, 'Idol' host Ryan Seacrest and Abdul's fellow judges on the show -- Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson -- all rallied to her "
