Bride marries wrong man

An Indian woman ended up marrying the wrong man by mistake after a slip of the tongue by the priest.

The priest mixed up the groom with his brother at a Muslim wedding in Udaiya, Uttar Pradesh, reports Press Trust of India.

During the exchange of vows, the priest said Mehraj instead of Siraj and the bride, not hearing him, consented.

The faux pas came to light the following morning when the groom's family saw the marriage document

It is reported the bride was sent back to her parents' home and is now in a dilemma whether she is married to her original groom or his brother.

Elders of both families have now approached authorities at the Islamic seminary of Deoband for a ruling on the issue.

I would guess that as long as the grooms' brother did not consent to marriage, then she isn't married to either one of them.

going by what happened with an edict the deoband seminary issued recently, the poor woman looks like she has a tough time ahead.

Hi Joker,
Yes, I've heard about several cases along the same line there. It boggles the mind to know such cruelty is taking place and is sanctioned by authority. Women have literally nowhere to turn and so are forced to endure lives of misery and pain.
