Pensioner swallowed false teeth

A policeman saved a pensioner's life after she swallowed her false teeth whole eating a sandwich.

Dmitar Tomasevic, 25, was walking down a street in Belgrade when he saw 77-year-old Jelena Momcilovic fall to the ground, local daily Blic reported.

He rushed to her, picked her up and wrapped his arms around her diaphragm and squeezed - expecting that she had choked on a sandwich she had been munching.

But instead a pair of dentures flew out.

Tomasevic said: "Policeman are trained to be able to help people when they are choking and I've had to do it a few times before on some other people.

"But I've never seen a set of false teeth come flying out. Usually people have get much smaller things stuck in their throats. She's lucky to be alive."
